JONES, ALLEN B. -- Arrived in Texas in March, 1832, as is stated in the Headright Certificate issued to him May 3, 1838 for one-third of a league of land by the Fort Bend County Board. He was living in Colorado County July 20, 1838 when he sold his certificate to Andrew Northington for $800. He was a member of Captain William J. E. Heard's Company at San Jacinto and on May 11, 1839 he received Donation Certificate No. 871 for 640 acres of land for having participated in the battle. Bounty Certificate No. 4327 for 320 acres of land was issued in Mr. Jones' name for his services in the army from February 29 to May 30, 1836. The certificate had been assigned.

Mr. Allen Jones died in Grimes County February 20, 1853. In the Probate Minutes of Grimes County, Book 3, page 25, it is shown that his widow, Mrs. Nancy Jones, was appointed administrator of his estate, July 25,, 1853.

The land on Donation Certificate No. 871 was surveyed first in Bastrop County but was withdrawn and located in Gillespie County. It was surveyed October 17, 1845 and patented June 14, 1847

The Deed Records of Gillespie County show that on October 14, 1850 the heirs of Allen B. Jones, deceased were Levin E. Jones, David K. Jones and Milton M. Justice and his wife, Mary E. Justice.
