GREENWOOD, JAMES -- Born in Ohio in 1806. He enlisted in Captain Sidney Sherman's Company in Kentucky December 18, 1835 and arrived in Texas in January 1836. He received Bounty Certificate No. 7009 for 960 acres of land for serving in the army from December 18, 1835 to September 18, 1836. He was a member of Captain William Wood's Company at San Jacinto but did not apply for the 640 acres of land due him for having participated in the battle.

Mr. Greenwood was living in Montgomery County, Ohio in 1874 and was an honorary member of the Texas Veterans Association. If he died in Montgomery County, Ohio, his estate was not probated in that county.

The biographies have been scanned from the original typescripts, a process that sometimes allows for mistakes in the new text.
