Came to Texas in 1831 and on May 30th of that year he received title to a league of land in Austin's Second Colony situated in what is now Fayette County. He was a member of Captain Jesse Billingsley's Company of Mina (Bastrop) Volunteers at San Jacinto, as a substitute of John Carmean, and on November 9, 18390, he was issued Donation Certificate No. 944 for 640 acres of land for having participated in the battle. On March 6, 1838, he received Bounty Certificate No. 2684 for 320 acres of land for having served in the army from February 28 to June 1, 1836.

After receiving his discharge from the army, Mr. Cravens moved to Brazoria County and on July 12, 1838, he received a Headright Certificate for one labor of land from the Brazoria County Board of Land Commissioners, in which it is stated that he arrived in Texas prior to May 2, 1835.

The Probate Records of Brazoria County show that he dies prior to February 1, 1842, at which time his widow was appointed administratrix of his estate.
