Creator Sketch:

Little is known about Olive Branch White, the daughter of a San Jacinto veteran, Edward T. Branch and Annie Cleveland Wharton, the daughter of William Harris Wharton.  Olive married Thomas F. White and collected and composed information pertaining to her genealogy which comprises this collection.

Scope and Content Note:

Printed materials and creative works dating from 1934 to 1946 comprise the Olive Branch White Papers documenting the life of Edward Thomas Branch, participant in the battle of San Jacinto.  The printed materials series contains: invitations, programs, and a souvenir envelope.  A 1938 invitation to a religious-patriotic celebration at Washington-on-the-Brazos issued by St. Mary's Congregation and the American Legion Post of Brenham, Texas and a 1945 invitation by the Philosophical Society of Texas are included.  Programs include: the 1940 and 1941 annual convention programs of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas, a dinner program celebrating the 100th anniversary of the founding of Houston hosted by the Houston Junior Chamber of Commerce, a 1943 annual dinner invitation to the Philosophical Society of Texas, a San Jacinto Day program from 1944 and a program for the 1910 reunion of the Texas Association of Mexican War Veterans.  There are also ten programs dating from 1934 to 1946 celebrating Texas Independence Day and General Sam Houston's birthday under the joint auspices of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas and the Sons of the Republic of Texas.  There is a souvenir envelope purchased in 1946 featuring Governor Stevenson's Centennial message, delivered December 29, 1945.

Creative works features a coat of arms of Captain Robert Calder, veteran of the battle of San Jacinto painted by Olive Branch White.  Mrs. White also donated a biographical sketch and a lineage chart of Edward T. Branch which are both typescript.
