Creator Sketch:

Annie Eugenia Prescott is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Prescott, and the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Goulon.  Mrs. Goulon later married Henry Radaz.  Annie Prescott married Samuel B. Dabney and they had two children: Annie Eugenia and Robert Lewis Dabney.

The collection was given to Mrs. Dabney by Mrs. R. T. Dugúë, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Radaz.

Scope and Content Note:

Correspondence, financial and legal documents, printed materials and creative works document the Radaz-Dabney family from 1850 to 1915.  Correspondence includes a lietter to Samuel B. Dabney concerning jurisdiction over land and three other general letters.  Of note is a letter in French from Olivia Boullet to Mademoiselle Goulon and Polle.

Financial documents are composed of a bill, a loan, receipts and tax receipts.  Receipts and tax receipts pertain to: Henry Radaz, F. Radaz, Adele Radaz, Radaz and Violant, and T.D. Stith.  Of interest is the promissory note to Henry L. Radaz issued by the Treasurer of Bexar Encampment, No. 11, of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows (I.O.O.F.).  Legal documents include appointments, a discharge, a land title, a military pass, promissory notes, and a summons pertaining to the Radaz family.  Included are two certificates of appointment of Henry L. Radaz as deputy postmaster at San Antonio by Presidents Franklin Pierce and James Buchanan.  There is also a discharge of administrator of estate and a military pass issued by the Confederate States of America in 1862 concerning Henry L. Radaz.  Promissory notes concerning John W. Squire, John C. Trimble and J. W. Reduz to Rose McCarthy & Co. comprise the general series.  A summons for Mrs. A. Radaz to appear in court, in the case of Mrs. M.F. Florian v. O.H. Wefing is also included.

Printed Materials consist of a calling card for Henry L. Radaz and a funeral notice regarding the death of Mr. and Mrs. Radaz's infant son Henry Eugene Radaz.  Creative works include a pen and ink surveyor's sketch of a block of land divided between Wefing, Florian and Radaz, and genealogical notes that show the relationship between Henry Radaz and Mrs. Samuel B. Dabney.

Archivist's note:

Also of interest are the 25- currency/warrants cataloged in the museum's artifact collection.  These items were issued from: Bexar County, Goliad County, Hayws County, the State of Texas and the Confederacy.
