TINDALE, DANIEL -- Arrived at Velasco, January 23, 1836 on the schooner Pennsylvania, having been recruited in New Orleans for the army of Texas by Captain Amasa Turner. On a roll at the General Land Office he is shown as a member of Captain John Hart's Company at Velasco, at muster January 30, 1836. In Headright Certificate No. 315 issued to him February 21, 1838 for one-third of a league of land by the Harrisburg County Board it is certified that he came to Texas in January, 1836. He was issued Bounty Certificate No. 45 for 640 acres of land for serving in the army from January 29 to July 28, 1836. He was a member of Captain Richard Roman's Company at San Jacinto, and on September 30, 1859, Donation Certificate No. 331 for 640 acres of land was issued in his name, but delivered to his widow, due him for having participated in the battle.

Mr. Tindale died in New Orleans in the latter part of 1839. This is disclosed in the petition of his widow to the Commissioner of Claims November 17, 1858. The following information regarding Mr. Tindale is in the Court of Claims files in the General Land Office. He was married to Mary Lawler August 4, 1839 in Saint Mary's Church, New Orleans. A child born after Mr. Tindale's death, died in 1840. Later Mrs. Tindale was married to James Donahoe of New Orleans.
The discharge from the army received by Mr. Tindale is also among the documents of the file. The following is a copy of it: "Daniel Tindale Landed at Velasco on the 28th of Janry 1836 and on the 29 joined Company B. Since that time until now he has continued Faithfully to Discharge the Duties of a Private in said company he was in the Battle of San Jacinto and proved himself worthy of the cause for which we were Batteling, Having Volunteered for the Term of Six months he is now honorably Discharged.
