TAYLOR, THOMAS -- He came to Texas in 1835, as is shown in the Headright Certificate issued to him February 9, 1838 by the Harrisburg County Board of Land Commissioners for one-third of a league of land. He was a member of Captain William S. Fisher's Company of "Velasco Blues" at San Jacinto and on June 4, 1838 was issued Donation Certificate No. 272 for 640 acres of land for having participated in the battle. On February 9, 1838 he was issued Bounty Certificate No. 2322 for 320 acres of land for his services in the army from March 17 to June 17, 1836.

Mr. Taylor lost his Headright Certificate and a duplicate was issued to his heirs, July 20, 1870. He died in Montgomery County and Charles B. Stewart was appointed administrator of his estate.
The following appeared in the Ft. Worth Star-Telegram July 5, 1936:
SAN SABA, July 4,- T. S. Taylor, 68, who died at the home of a nephew, Clayton Gage, here Wednesday, was buried in the City Cemetery here Thursday afternoon.
Mr. Taylor, in ill health for several months, recently was brought from a Temple hospital.
Mr. Taylor's father was in the Battle of San Jacinto, and he was deeply interested in early Texas history."
