SCARBOROUGH, PAUL -- In applying for Headright Certificate No. 7 January 4, 1838 to the Jackson County Board for one third of a league of land Mr. Scarborough stated that he came to Texas in 1830.

He was issued Bounty Certificate No. 5078 for 320 acres of land December 14, 1830 for having served in the army from October 3 to December 14, 1835. The land was surveyed in Cherokee County. On February 13, 1859 he was issued Bounty Certificate No. 139 for 320 acres of land for having served in the army from March 7 to July 19, 1836. The land was surveyed in Lavaca County. He was a member of Captain Moseley Baker's Company at San Jacinto and on August 20, 1830 he received Donation Certificate No. 517 for 640 acres of land for having participated in the battle. He was a member of the ill fated Santa Fe Expedition in 1841.

Mr. Scarborough died prior to July 20, 1867 as is disclosed in the Deed Records of Angelina County, Book H, page 247. On that date S. S. Scarborough, agent and attorney in fact for Paul Scarborough, deceased, sold a tract of land patented to Paul Scarborough, February 3, 1862.
