BISSETT, ROBERT B. -- Arrived at Velasco, January 28, 1836, on the schooner Pennsylvania, having been recruited for the army of Texas by Captain Amasa Turner in New Orleans. He was issued a Headright Certificate by the Harris County Board of Land Commissioners, November 2, 1849 for one-third of a league of land. In the certificate it is stated that Mr. Bissett came to Texas in January 1836. The land was surveyed in Williamson County in 1850 by Mathias Wilbarger.

In Service Record No. 445 it is certified that Mr. Bissett served in the army from February 13, 1836 to October 24, 1837. He was issued Donation Certificate No. 275 for 640 acres of land June 4, 1838 for having participated in the battle of San Jacinto. He was a member of Captain Amasa Turner's Company at the battle and when discharged was a member of Captain John Smith's Company on Galveston Island. On October 6, 1851 Bounty Certificate No. 946 for 1280 acres of land was issued in Mr. Bissett's name, due him for having served in the army from February 13, 1836 to October 24, 1837. The certificate had been assigned to Henry N. Potter.

Mr. Bissett was a member of Captain William P. Lewis’ Company on the Santa Fe Expedition in 1841.
