RAMEY, LAWRENCE -- Arrived in Texas prior to May 23, 1827, at which time he received title to a league of land in Austin's First Colony, situated in Matagorda County. In Comptroller's Military Service Record No. 1125, it is certified that he served in the army from February 30 to May 30, 1836. He was a member of Captain James Gillaspie's Company at San Jacinto and on January 12, 1838 he was issued Donation Certificate No. 459 for 640 acres of land for having participated in the battle. The land was surveyed in Cooke Land District in 1856. He did not apply for Bounty or Headright Certificates. He received a Veterans Donation Certificate for 1280 acres of land March 18, 1881. The land was surveyed in Menard County.
