PEN~A, JACINTO -- Born in San Antonio, Texas, as is shown in the Headright Certificate issued to him January 29, 1838 for one third of a league of land, by the Bexar County Board of Land Commissioners. He was one of the couriers sent from the Alamo by Travis to enlist aid. He joined Captain Juan N. Seguin's Company and participated in the Battle of San Jacinto. He did not apply for the land due him for having served in the army prior to and at the battle. He re-enlisted in the army June 10, 1836 for the duration of the war as Second Corporal of Lieutenant Manuel Flores' Company. He was issued Bounty Certificate No. 2781 for ? acres of land for his services from June 10, 1836 to February 12, 1838.
