In Comptroller's Military Service Record No. 826 signed at Camp Victoria, May 30, 1836 by William W. Hill, Captain of Company H and countersigned by Thomas J. Rusk, Brigadier General Commanding, it is stated that Mr. Neal served in Captain Henry W. Karnes' Company from February 30 to April 30 and in Captain Hill's Company from April 30 to May 30, 1836. On June 27, 1853 he was issued Donation Certificate No. 502 for 640 acres of land for having participated in the Battle or San Jacinto. The land was surveyed in the Bexar Land District in 1855.

Mr. Neal moved to Calloway County, Kentucky and there died. His widow, Mrs. Sarah C. Neal and her children, Kitty and Thomas L. Neal, appointed J. W. Robertson of Travis County as their agent to recover any lands belonging to Mr. Neal, May 24, 1883. [Book 32, page 233 Deed Records of Bexar County.]
