MYRICK, ELLAKIN P. -- In the Spanish Archives in the General Land Office it is shown that when Mr. Myrick in 1830 applied for land in Austin's Third Colony he stated that he was 24 years of age and had arrived in Texas from Alabama in 1826. On October 27, 1830 he received title to a league of land situated in the present County of Brazoria. He was a member of Captain William S. Fisher's Company of Velasco Blues and on January 7, 1839 he was issued Donation Certificate No. 731 for having participated in the battle. The records of the General Land Office do not show that Mr. Myrick applied for the labor of land due him as a Headright or for the bounty land due him for his services in the army.

Mr. Myrick was probably born in Maine. He died in Texas prior to May 1, 1847 and Herman Myrick, his father, of Kennebee County, Maine, appointed Collin Campbell of Karnes County, Texas as his agent, August 1, 1847. It appears from the Probate Minutes of Brazoria County, Book E, page 38, that he died in Brazoria County. Andrew Robertson was appointed administrator of his estate, May 1, 1847.
