MOORE, SAMUEL -- Arrived in Texas in 1834, as is shown in the Headright Certificate issued to him February 21, 1838 by the Board of Land Commissioners for Harrisburg County for one-third of a league of land. The Certificate has been assigned to Alexander Daniels. In Comptroller's Military Service Record No. 4190 it is certified that he enlisted in the army April 9, 1836 for two years; participated in the battle of San Jacinto as a member of Captain Amasa Turner's Company and was discharged from the army at Houston, October 10, 1837. On page 180, army rolls in the General Land Office he is shown as a member of Captain John Smith's Company December 31, 1836. Bounty Certificate No. 2991 for 1280 acres of land was issued in the name of Samuel Moore April 23, 1838, due him for having served in the army from April 9, 1836 to October 10, 1837. The Certificate had been assigned to H. Erskine. Donation Certificate No. 150 for 640 acres of land was issued in the name of Samuel Moore, May 21, 1838, due him for having participated in the battle of San Jacinto. The land was surveyed in the then Milam County by George B. Erath in 1838.
