Montgomery, although in the Headright Certificate issued to him February 1, 1838 for one-twelfth of a league of land by the Montgomery County Board of Land Commissioners it is stated that he came to Texas in 1831. The land was surveyed in Grimes County. On February 2, 1835 he received title to one-fourth of a league of land in Robertson's Colony situated in the present county of Falls. (See the sketch of Andrew M. Montgomery.)
