McALLISTER, JOSEPH -- In Book B, page 73 of the list of applicants for land in Austin's Colonies it is shown that when Mr. McAllister applied for, but did not receive, land October 12, 1835 he stated that he was twenty-two years of age, single and was a carpenter by trade. He stated that he had arrived in Texas from Philadelphia in July, 1834. He was a member of Captain William S. Fisher's Company of VELASCO BLUES at San Jacinto and on February 4, 1848 he was issued Donation Certificate No. 95 for 640 acres of land for having participated in the battle. On May 1, 1838 he received Bounty Certificate No. 3109 for 320 acres of land for having served in the army from March 6 to June 6, 1836. He did not receive a Headright Certificate.

Mr. McAllister made his home in Houston until April 16, 1849, when he and Louis B. Harris left for California. He died at Stewart's Point, Sonora County, in 1873.
Mrs. E.C. Merrett, of Santa Rosa, California wrote the compiler August 6, 1935 that she could find no record of McAllister's death.
