MANUEL, ALBERT C -- Shown on the official rolls as a member of Captain William Kimbro's Company at San Jacinto. The Land Office Records do not show that he received either Headright, Bounty or Donation Certificates. There is a reference to him found in Comptroller's Military Service Record No. 3470 in the Archives of the State Library. On April 29, 1836 Captain William H. Smith certified that John W. Carter lost a gun valued at $25.00 in the battle of San Jacinto. Mr. Carter sold the certificate issued to him for that amount to Albert C. Manuel. On November 27, 1837, Mr. Manuel received payment from the government.
