ALLISON, JOHN C. -- Second Sergeant in Captain William Wood's Company at San Jacinto, but he did not apply for the land due him for having participated is the battle. In Service record No. 1525 it is certified that he enlisted in Captain Stanley Sherman's Company in Kentucky December 18, 1835; was promoted to First Sergeant March 15, and discharged December 18, 1636. For this service he was entitled to receive 1289 acres of land, but he did not claim it. Neither did he make application for a headright. Captain Sherman's Company arrived in Texas in January, 1836. On page 114 of the army rolls at the General Land Office, Mr. Allison is shown as having sworn allegiance to the government of Texas at Nacogdoches January 14, 1836.
