BEAR, ISAAC H. -- Emigrated to Texas in February, 1836, as is shown in the Headright Certificate issued in his name for one third of a league of land by the Harrisburg, County Board, February 1, 1838. He had assigned his rights to the certificate to John Belden, August 27, 1837. He was issued Bounty Certificate No. 1589 for 1280 acres of land, for serving in the army from February 3, 1836 to January 1, 1838. He sold the certificate in Harrisburg County, January 9, 1838 to B. J. Chambers for $175.00. He was a member of Captain Henry Teal's Company at San Jacinto but did not apply for the 640 acres of land due him for having participated in the battle.

In Service Record No. 1706 it is certified that Mr. Bear enlisted in Captain Teal's Company in the regular army, February 3, 1836 for the duration of the war. He was appointed Third Corporal April 19th and served as such until June 7th when he resigned and served as a private until May 31, 1837, when he was discharged.
