KIBBE, WILLIAM -- Born in Vermont in 1805. In the Headright Certificate issued to him March 15, 1838 by the Liberty County Board for one-third of a league of land, it is stated that he came to Texas in 1834. He was a member of Captain William M. Logan's Company at San Jacinto and on June 27, 1838 he was issued Donation Certificate No. 379 for 640 acres of land for having participated in the battle. On the same date he received Bounty Certificate No. 3948 for 320 acres of land for having served in the army from March 6, to June 6, 1836. In service Record No. 1868 it is certified that a grey horse was killed from under him in the skirmish of April 20, 1836.

Mr. Kibbe was married Kizian Campbell, who was born in Vermilion Parish, Louisiana on Sept. 18, 1830 and died at Abberville, Louisiana on Dec. 22, 1903. Mr. Kibbe died at Abbeville, August 15, 1878, while an honorary member of the Texas Veterans Association. He is buried in the Methodist Cemetery at Abbeville, Louisiana.

Children of Mr. and Mrs. Kibbe were William; Fannie; Levi; Clara; Charles O., who married to Clara Perry; Erastus; Henry and Ollie Kibbe.
