GEDRY, LEFROY -- Born in 1803, as is shown in a List of the names of all men available for military service in the Municipality of Liberty July 20, 1836. In January 1836 the original draft was in possession of R. W. Abbott of Beaumont. He came to Texas in 1834 and on June 20, 1835 received title to a league of land in Zavala Colony, situated in what are now Liberty and Hardin Counties. He did not apply for a headright from the Republic. He received Bounty Certificate No. 9927 for 320 acres of land for serving in the army from March 6 to June 6, 1836. The land was surveyed in Hardin County 1845. He was a member of Captain William M. Logan's Company at San Jacinto and on May 28, 1838 was issued a Donation Certificate for 640 acres of land for having participated in the Battle of San Jacinto.

The Deed Records of Jefferson County, Book B, page 20, discloses that Mr. Gedry and his wife, Christian Dagan Gedry were divorced October 20, 1839. From other deed records it is shown that Mr. Gedry was living in Jefferson County as late as February 10, 1859.

Some of the descendants of Mr. Gedry are Boyce Spell, Batson Sevan Gedry, Batson Gedry, and Gus Gedry, all lived in Sour Lake.
