EDINBURG, CHRISTOPHER COLUMBUS -- Born in France. In applying for land in Wavell's colony he stated that he had arrived in Texas, October 10, 1824. He was twenty-five yeas of age and his wife, Louiza Byrnside, was eighteen. On June 12, 1835 he received title to one league of land situated in the present county of Walker. He was issued Headright Certificate No. ___ January 18, 1838 for one labor of land by the Montgomery County Board.

Mr. Edinburg was a member of Captain William Ware's company at San Jacinto and on August 16, 1838 was issued Donation Certificate No. 513 for 640 acres of land for having participated in the battle. He received Bounty Certificate No. 2348 for 320 acres of land, for having served in the army from March 12 to June 12, 1836.

After the death of his wife Mr. Edinburg was married to Lucenda Birdwell. Mr. Edinburg died in 1864, and is buried in the Edinburg family cemetery fourteen miles north west of Huntsville. Mrs. Edinburg had died prior to that year. The State of Texas had a monument erected at Mr. Edinburg's grave in 1936.
