DENMAN, COLDEN -- On page 101, Book B, List of applicants for Land in Austin's Colonies it is shown that in Mr. Denman's application he stated that he came to Texas from Mississippi in 1834. He did not receive the land. In Headright Certificate No. 280 issued to him February 1, 1838 for one-third of a league by the Board of Land Commissioners for Brazoria County it is simply stated that he arrived in Texas prior to May 2, 1835.

Mr. Denman was issued Bounty Certificate No. 1432 for 320 acres of land for having served in the army from March 1 to June 1, 1836. He was a member of Captain William H. Patton's Company of Columbia Volunteers and on May 7, 1852 was issued Donation Certificate No. 438 for 640 acres of land for having participated in the Battle of San Jacinto. The land was surveyed in Bexar County.
The Deed Records of Bexar County show Mr. Denman as resident of that county as late as November 9, 1852.
