ANSON, ORIN D. -- Arrived at Velasco, January 28, 1836, on the schooner Pennsylvania, having been recruited for the Army of Texas in New Orleans by Captain Amasa Turner. His name appears on page 27 of the army rolls in the General Land Office as a member of Captain John Hart's Company at Velasco, January 30, 1836. Most of the men of Captain Hart's Company served in Captain Richard Roman's Company at San Jacinto but Mr. Anson evidently left the company shortly after his enlistment and later joined Captain Moseley Baker's Company. Although shown on the San Jacinto rolls printed in 1836 as having been wounded in the battle, Mr. Anson did not apply for the 640 acres of land due him as a participant of the battle. Neither did he apply for a Headright Certificate.

Mr. Anson probably left Texas shortly after receiving his discharge from the army. He assigned his rights to his Bounty Certificate to Henry Kessler and did not apply for a Donation Certificate since such certificates were non transferable. On March 10, 1853, Bounty Certificate No. 1243 for 320 acres of land, assigned to Henry Kissler, was issued in Mr. Anson's name, for his services in the army from March 1 to June 1, 1836.
