CARMONA, CESARIO -- Born in Texas, as is shown in the headright certificate issued to him by the Bexar County Board of Land Commissioners for a league and a labor of land March 30, 1838. He sold the Certificate to Joseph L. Martin of Washington County for $500.

In Comptroller's Military Service Record No. 1181 it is certified that Mr. Carmona served in the army from February 23 to August 23, 1836 and was a member of Captain Juan N. Seguin's Company at San Jacinto. He was described as being five feet, ten inches in height, of brown complexion, black hair and black eyes. By vocation he was a farmer. He evidently re-enlisted in the army for on December 2, 1837 Bounty certificate No. 665 for 1280 acres of land was issued in his name, due him for his services from February 23, 1336 to February 14, 1837. The certificate had been assigned.

Mr. Carmona was issued Donation Certificate No. 439 for 640 acres of land in 1838 for having participated in the battle of San Jacinto, and although Donation Certificates at that time could not be legally transferred he sold it to James L. Trueheart. He could not sign his name but made his mark to the transfer. Duplicate, No. 512, of the certificate was issued August 23, 1853.
