SPLANE, PEYTON R. - Received title to 4,428 acres of land in Colony situated in the present counties of Colorado.

SPLANE, PEYTON R. - Born in Louisiana in 1807 and came to Texas in 1829. He commanded a company in the main army in 1836 and he and most of his men were detailed by General Houston to guard the baggage April 21, 1836 at the camp established opposite Harrisburg. Bounty Certificate No. 1575 for 320 acres of land was issued in Captain Splane’s name April 22, 1854 due him for having served in the army from September 28 to December 23, 1835. Bounty Certificate No. 1760 for 320 acres was issued October 4, 1854 for his services from March 4 to June 6, 1836. Donation Certificate No. 571 for 640 acres was issued April 22, 1854 due him for having “participated in the battle of San Jacinto.”
Captain Splane was living at Gin Place, Brazoria County, August 26, 1836. He had a race track on his place. He died in 1839 survived by his widow, Mrs. Anna D. W. Splane. Warren D. C. Hall was appointed administrator of his estate January 27, 1840
