MURRAY, JAMES - The name James Murray is inscribed on the bronze plague in the San Jacinto memorial monument on which are listed the names of the Texans who were detailed to guard the baggage at the camp opposite Harrisburg April 21, 1836. The name should be removed as it was James Maurry who performed the service indicated and Maurry’s name is on the plaque.

MAURRY, JAMES - Listed on page 137 of the army rolls in the General Land Office as one of the men of Captain Joseph B. Chance’s Washington Company who was detailed to guard the baggage at the camp opposite Harrisburg, April 21, 1836. No one by that name received headright, bounty or donation land.
Our family spell it “Murray”.
NOTE: Information in red given by Mrs. William J. Reilly, 3005 Hanover, Dallas 5, Texas, and passed on to Mr. Kemp.
