San Jacinto Day Festival and Battle Reenactment
Saturday, April 26, 2008, 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
Celebrate the battle that won Texas' independence in 1836. The Festival is complete with live music and entertainment, children's activities, living history camps, craft demonstrations, food vendors, and much more. In the afternoon, hundreds of historical reenactors gather at the San Jacinto Battleground to stage the state's largest battle reenactment.
Recent conservation efforts will be on display in the San Jacinto Museum of History, located in the base of the Monument. Precious artifacts that have been recently restored and newly acquired documents will be on display during the Festival. Included in the special exhibit are three 19th century uniforms, a 19th century rifle used by Jesse Walling who served under Houston at the Battle of San Jacinto, several printed items showing the Mexican view of the Texas Revolution and other historical items.
Free Admission to the Festival activities and the Museum.
