San Jacinto Ceremony

People sit in rows of chairs with their backs to the camera, facing a tall stone building and other people seated on a raised terrace, with Texas and U.S. flags flying.

EACH YEAR, THE BATTLE OF SAN JACINTO and the soldiers who fought there are remembered on the anniversary of the battle. All are welcome to attend this event.  The official San Jacinto Day Ceremony will take place at the San Jacinto Monument on April 21, 2024, at 2:00 p.m.  Featured speaker will be Dr. Paul N. Spellman.  Nancy Burch, great great granddaughter of General Sam Houston, will read the San Jacinto Battle Report, written by Houston.  Music will be provided by the Deer Park High School Orchestra, John Law, Director, Casen Bury, Assistant.  The Daughters of the Republic of Texas and Sons of the Republic of Texas will award scholarships, and a wreath will be placed, with an honor salute.

In the event of rain, the ceremony will be moved from the terrace of the Monument to the theatre inside the building.
